friday…

He was in the cab of his truck this morning, pulling out of the drive. Putting a cigarette between his lips, he was steering with his knees as one hand flicked the lighter and the other waved at me. Awash in the glow of great morning sex and warm August sunshine, I giggled and blew kisses at him as he drove slowly away…

Tuesday isn’t so far away… but it feels like it right now. 4 nights and 3 days until Tuesday dinnertime. Come September we will have most Mondays as well,  after he takes his daughter to school and before I head into classes. I know I should spend those hours doing homework, but selfish little cat that I am, just cannot wait to have more adult time with Paul ! =)

I hate Fridays. I mean, this is a girl who can see the good in forest fires and flu casualties and even mass extinctions… but Fridays ? Yup… hate them. Between days stretching out before me without having those arms to sleep in, and the 2 night shifts at a job that went from distasteful and mildly irritating to full blown jackassery within a month of hire, I have begun to dread my weekends. I have always loved Mondays, weird little thing that I am, but now they are cause for celebration. While doing laundry, visiting assorted grocers and other mundane bits of daily life, I treat myself to the once-weekly coffee at Starbucks and take time to hike or beach it for a while… Mondays, those perfect days of perfect anticipation and hope, a blend of task-oriented planning and a bit of extra sleep… our friend Alice at CAABP was just talking about anticipation this morning. =)

I always feel unsettled on Fridays, and while meditation calms the soul, I find myself grexy… it is time to change the work situation, as this is the factor over which I have the most control. Also, I am quite the bear when I do not sleep, which I am sure contributes to about 85% of the general irritation I feel right now. =) SO… what is in my control this evening ? Food and drink. Am off to noodle-ize some squash to sauté for dinner, and make a large cup of my fav coffee. I used to save the junk beans for work nights, thinking they would just be wasted… but now realize that a work night is the PERFECT time to break out the big guns, and take every shred of contentment and happiness I can squeeze from the waning daylight hours.

Hope your weekend is beginning with a bang, and you can wallow in some serious pleasure tonight… do it up right, friends ! =)
