happy day…

Rain, rain, rain… cold breezes, cup of coffee and tea… baked chicken for dinner yesterday with winter squash and green beans… felt more like Thanksgiving than July. The cold felt so good after sweltering all week. We got so much done, and packed the car up in anticipation of my storage run on Monday. A little early, but I won’t have help after Sunday morning, so my darling girl thought it a good idea to get it done. She has really been trying to help out more around here, as I am beginning to get frantic with the impending move and am starting to resemble Doc from “Back to the Future” … =)

Today was deliciously warm and sunny… which felt good after being flooded out yesterday. When I got up this morning, it was 57…  now at just past 6pm, it is a comfortable 74. I have to admit, I am loving July and this vacillating weather. Never a dull moment; in the past 30 hours we have been in bathing suits, t-shirts and undies all the way to sweatpants and warm shirts, bundled under blankets wearing thick socks. I think that it is going to even out soon, however, so we are enjoying the days while we have no idea to expect. =)

I went thru the kitchen today and cleaned out drawers and cabinets, and now have yet another pile of  give-aways and take-withs. The take pile is smaller, and I am sure that what I want to bring with us is going to fit comfortably in the new kitchen space. I will actually have more counter space than here, so I am happy. My foxling decided to set up her Playmobil city downstairs so we can photograph it and try to get rid of the entire thing in one fell swoop. She spent several happy hours building the houses and zoo, farm and ice cream shops. When I went to get her for dinner, she was surrounded by the remains of her childhood, a kaleidoscope of miniature flowers, flatware, bikes and pets. It took my breath away to see her in this way again, I had thought she would never again sit amongst her toys in this manner, she is about 2 feet taller than when she began her collection. =)

I made some gorgeous free-range pork in the multi-cooker, so all I had to do was throw some spices together with wine and broth, along with onions and garlic and viola… dinner managed. Leftover rice and salad with cherries… YUM ! =) My girl is headed over to her dad’s house tomorrow so I will not be cooking again until Wednesday night. I do try to make her a “real” meal during her days with me, but it is easy to throw together light summer meals in a hurry most days. She is on a wrap kick lately, and if I give her fruit and chips and salad too, she is happier than a pig in mud. =)

I have to pack up my upstairs closets tomorrow and think I will tackle a bookshelf. There are 3 of them, and I have to put the books and games in boxes and lug them upstairs. I will be glad to be rid of a lot of these belongings, so the next move will be small and easy. I desperately need a haircut, so will try to squeeze that into an afternoon this week…

Gotta run, time to relax for a bit and take a walk, have a lovely ! =)

Wasn’t the weather great? It was a little warmer here, but still cooler for this time of year.

I would be tempted to get the playmobil stuff, just because, but I am going to take on a major “stuff purge” once the kid’s bum clears the doorway 😀

I hope today is just as lovely too 🙂

    Hey there, you…

Hope your weekend is awesome and full of sun and happiness.

I know, the Playmobil is a veritable city and I love playing with the ice cream shop with the kids on their bikes… !
