beautifully ordinary…

These prompts are getting interesting lately. =) I am rediscovering the simple pleasures of a quiet morning, something I always looked forward to during my long work weeks. Sunday mornings were always a happy time for me, a quiet time of coffee, reading the Times and the Post and putting my feet up. I would never let my boyfriend sleep over on Saturday nights, because Sundays were my own. After a few hours of me time, I would head out with some friends, to a beach or a taco shack… drink the lunch hour away with people I cared deeply about.

These Sundays are a little different now, but no less pleasurable. I have talked about this a lot recently; my life for the time being is a small one. Small, but good. =) I now get up early, workout, shower and drink a delicious cup of coffee. I study, read online newspapers and walk a bit, and head out to pick up my foxling. Nothing but ordinary… nothing but good.

Here is what I bought for myself yesterday… absolutely not necessary, but what a treat ! Beautiful mini French Press and espresso beans, and 2 gorgeous, small glazed mugs. This came with a free full online subscription to the NY Times, that long, lost friend from my past. My rewards card gave me $10 off, so it was a very affordable splurge… my fav kind ! This morning I sat down to read the paper with a delicious cup of coffee and my yogurt. After I found a story that peaked my interest, I slathered “Hand Food” all over my glittery cuticles and relaxed with some Orbital playing softly in the background. Sheer perfection… =) The only drawback was that I missed the rustling of the actual pages, and spreading the paper out by sections based on my interest. The smell of fresh ink and the crinkle in my hands is a thing of the past, I suppose. One of these days, I will have to grab an actual paper, for old times sake. =)

Well, the birds are chirping and the day is not getting any younger. I am going to pick up lunch and run over to The Professor’s house for a visit, a rare treat with their crazy schedules. Enjoy your Sunday… =)

Ordinary is good; it seems to be what people in extraordinary circumstances yearn for. It’s great to recognise when we’re truly happy and content.
    Have a wonderful Sunday 🙂
