simple things…

Ah, Saturday morning in front of the computer. Sun streaming, wind blowing, work kind of day here in the den. The weekend is off to a good start. Last night, The Professor came over for dinner and a movie… we watched the new THOR ! It was in 3-D and let me tell you, it was just awesome ! The action was fast, the scenes gorgeous and it was actually a very funny movie, to boot. My foxling loved it, and already asked when we can see it again ! That is this child’s equivalent of a two-thumbs-up. =) Very nice, uneventful night, and good times were had by all. After they left, I finished the dishes, did some of my weekly classwork, folded some clothes and went to bed early with a good book. I am actually getting the hang of this “saying goodbye-alone for the weekend” thing. After the week we had, I am happy to report that it was smooth, easy and I slept again, deeply and thankfully.

March is coming in like a lion in our neck of the woods… we are expecting snow tomorrow, Monday, and perhaps later in the week as well. Ah, winter is not going to give up its hold easily this year. Less than 3 weeks until spring, we can make it…

I was wool-gathering while I washed my yogurt cup at the sink, staring out the window and letting my mind wander. I have nothing profound to share with you today, other than my realization of humility. Being able to walk tall even as you are stripped bare for all to see. Holding your head high, not in perfection, but in the knowledge that you have the strength within you to do so. To not look down in shame, but face everything with your eyes wide open, staring straight into the heart of the matter, while being completely vulnerable. And seeing that vulnerability part of your powerful self, not something to hide. That is true humility, not the pretense we encounter on a daily basis.

I was scrolling thru the monthly photo challenges over at FatMumSlim… a photo every day, with a specific theme. She has some really great prompts, and I decided to give it a whirl. Theme for today is yellow… this is the handmade flower that adorned the Teiks my foxling recently ordered. Such a nice touch, they really are a lovely company and even sent hand written cards. If you adore ballet flats, you have got to check them out !

Simple pleasures make up some of the best parts of life.
And go you for your sense of self!
