on it’s last leg…

This poor laptop… it is 6 years old and beginning to show signs of wear, in that weird computer years=dog years kind of way. It has accidentally been dumped off the arm of a chair, had the hard drive replaced and my foxling spilled a cup of sugary, milk-filled coffee all over it last year. =) It has put up the good fight, and is showing sings of giving up. Several keys stick, iTunes cannot play and the usb ports no longer work, meaning no photos attached to my posts. It whirrs and clicks and the fan comes on at odd times. I think we may have to bite the bullet in the late spring and replace this old girl. Sigh.

On a lighter note, my ankle is on the mend, and operating at about 80%. It was ALMOST completely healed, but a week of trekking around down south put a strain on it again. I am wearing the brace again, putting it up in the evenings and am sure it will be fine in a week or two. I am looking forward to a long hike with my darlings over the Thanksgiving break.

The Professor has been looking at apartments recently, and is searching for another car, as well. He will move out in January, over the semester break, and we are hoping this will give my foxling a few weeks to adjust before she has to buckle down and get back to work. I am getting her new science curriculum at about the same time, and am planning to tempt her with new experiments. =) I am feeling nostalgic, nervous and hopeful, all at the same time. It may not be the life we had planned, but I am confident we can carve a new path, a new direction and we will flourish. It feels good to be making a positive change, and to take our lives into our own hands… no one knows what tomorrow brings, but I feel confident that we are moving in the right direction. He and I had words last night, and for all the discomfort, it was productive, and I slept better than I had in weeks. How is it possible for your heart to break, yet have hope at the same time ? Life is weird, to say the least. =)

Today is freezing, and since it is almost time for our break, we are not doing lessons. I am planning spending a fun day with my foxling. We will be cooking, making a list for the grocers, doing a puzzle, listening to music, and perhaps watching an episode or 2 of Grey’s. =) After he gets home tonight, The Professor will be off for 10 days, and we are planning on enjoying every one of them together. =) It is so nice to have plans that do not include him staying up until midnight making care plans ! =)
