What a crazy, mixed up week in the den ! All I can say is that we are here, we survived, and we are glad that this coming week is lesson-free for my foxling. Autumn has blown in on a storm, thick and full of wintry promise. Photos taken in the mornings show less color than those snapped after lunch; that is how rapidly our corner of the world is changing. How apropos to our life situation right now, and instead of feeling uprooted, and scarred, I am able to look around me and FEEL the natural change, and know this is a good thing, necessary to what lies ahead.

As I write, The Historian is playing a video game, quietly muttering to Harry and Hermione and giggling to herself. Drizzly rain is falling in fat SPLATS, hushed by the leaves catching the drops and pooling them into a steady stream that cascades down trunks and rocks, murmuring over mossy banks and creating new rivulets deep in the brush. The house is dark and quiet-ish, Johnny Mathis croons in the background, small lamps shine their soft glow in circles, soothing us as breezes rush in from open windows, carrying the earthy smell of the surrounding trees.

Quiet day, quiet week ahead. Exploring feelings, choices, likes and dislikes. Warm soups to be made, happy movies to be watched. Writing, coloring, reading. Painting, drawing, hot baths and time to email loved ones. Peace, quiet, healing and creating… dreams and ideas, anew. Productivity in the truest sense, of the mind, body and soul. No work will be done, yet we will accomplish much. See you on the flip side…
