whiskey tango foxtrot…

I hurt my ankle about two weeks ago, and even though I am intimately familiar with the ups and downs of recovery, this is getting ridiculous ! As long as I am on the couch or in bed, leg propped in the air like some drunk porn star, the swelling and pain subside. After an hour walking up and down the stairs, cleaning or cooking, there it goes again, reminiscent of a hot air balloon, and just as prettily colored. I am in desperate need of a hard workout, fast-paced walks with my foxling, and rigorous sex, none of which I can accomplish with this pain wrapping itself around my foot ! I am about at my wits end, and I can see it now, my weekend flashing before my eyes, sitting alone upstairs while my sweet girl and her daddy have all the fun. Grr… !

On a lighter note, we found a small nest and 3 baby robins in the shrub below the kitchen window a few days ago. It is so late in the year for new nestlings, and I hope they mature quickly. They spend the afternoons peeping away, with their little heads bobbing up and down like they are afloat at sea. Nature seems to know what she is doing most days, so perhaps we are in for an Indian Summer, to give those darlings a better chance. One thing is for certain, the weatherman cannot be trusted ! =)

The Historian is turning 13 in a few weeks, and I need to run to Williams-Sonoma to pick up a haunted-mansion decorating kit that is guaranteed to elicit shrieks of delight from my foxling as well as her little friend. It is not made from gingerbread, but chocolate cookies for walls and roofs. Comes with a dizzying array of candy bits to slather over the house, as well as icing; a real treat for the mum who does not bake, I can tell you !

I am going to grab my book and take my grumpy self off to bed. The day was great, got so much accomplished and yet, all I want is to feel that delicious moment when my head hits the cool pillow and sinks slightly in, and I can stretch out and melt into the mattress. Hope your night is rejuvenating and peaceful.
